Help your Reception child explore capacity through a playful scooping race.
Scoop Race combines dice, counting and filling containers. Players roll, add that many scoops of water, sand, rice or lentils to their container and keep going until somebody reaches the top. As they play, children compare capacity, count carefully and use language such as full, empty, more and less.
Simple to set up and easy to adapt, you'll receive a parent-friendly guide with clear instructions, practical learning tips and ideas to extend the play as your child's confidence grows. Encourage your child to predict which container will fill first, compare containers that look different and investigate how many equal scoops each one can hold.
