Help your Reception child connect numbers to amounts through an active, hands-on hunt.
Number Houses Hunt is a fun searching and matching activity that encourages children to find hidden quantities and match them to the correct number house. As they count the objects on each note and decide where it belongs, they'll practise recognising numbers, matching numbers to amounts and counting carefully, while beginning to recognise smaller quantities without needing to count each one.
Simple to set up and easy to adapt, you'll receive a parent-friendly guide with clear instructions, practical learning tips and ideas to extend the play as your child's confidence grows. The activity is designed to be flexible. Draw simple number houses onto paper or card, then create quantities using dots, stars, shapes or simple drawings on sticky notes or pieces of paper ready to hide and find.
